With over 48,000 plugins available today, it can be hard to find the right ones to make your site stand out and be easy to manage. Our development platform of choice for our clients is WordPress, overtime we have tried and tested many plugin’s and we have found these five plugins to be invaluable in making sure any site runs smoothly and look good. If you’re looking for ways to make your site more efficient or just want more control over your content and design, look no further than these five WordPress plugins!
If you have a content-heavy site, Yoast SEO is your friend. The plugin will analyse your content, check for grammar and spelling mistakes, suggest alternate word choices in the text, and bring all this information together on one page for you.
You can then make quick edits before publishing knowing that everything is as clear as possible. It also has a social sharing button that gathers share counts from social media sites like Facebook and Twitter so that readers can see the popularity of your post without having to leave your site or look at any third-party sites.
This button also helps with SEO by boosting links from other sites back to yours.
‘Sucuri’ is a security plugin that provides you with the ability to scan your site for malware, hacking attempts, and vulnerability attacks. This makes it a must-have for those looking to keep their site secure, as well as those who are concerned about liability issues.
The sucuri team is available 24/7 for all your security needs. They’re able to help you set up a firewall and increase the level of defense on your site, install or fix an SSL certificate (important when accepting payments), remove malware from your site or website files – and so much more!
This plugin has been around since 2009 and has grown in popularity since then with over 4 million downloads.
The most popular code snippets plugin for WordPress used by over 1 million websites. Most common additional tools for marketing or tutorials require for you to edit core wordpress files, like the header or the functions file. But, with this plugin you can do it yourself.
This is one of the easiest ways to add snippets of code without running the risk of breaking your website. It allows you to add custom php, custom css, facebook pixel, google analytics and so much more.
With this plugin you can easily add modifications to your website without having to be a coder, programmer or developer.
While browsing, a reader may choose to read your content because of your amazing presentation, but won’t go any further if it’s too slow. This is where caching comes in. Caching is a way of storing files and content so that it can be delivered with speed.
The plugin ‘W3 Total Cache’ will cache everything and make your site load quicker than average. You don’t need all the bells and whistles that come with some other plugins because this one does it all by itself!
5. WP Smush
‘WP Smush’ is a WordPress plugin that compresses images on your site. This plugin not only helps with the website loading speed, but it also can reduce the cost of hosting because you are using less bandwidth and storage space.
WP Smush offers two compression settings, medium and high. When we installed WP Smush, we didn’t notice any change in the appearance of our website, which is what we like! Compression in our opinion should never look ‘too good’. Too much work was put into design and editing for pictures to be low quality. We recommend using the high setting for sites with limited resources and using it as needed. For sites with better resources, the medium may be just fine.
So, which plugin is the most important? The truth is, every one of these can be a lifesaver if you are running a WordPress site that needs extra functionality. None of them will break your bank account and they will give you peace of mind knowing your site is covered by some great plugins.
