Building a Brand from the Ground Up

Our client approached Kola Digital with an exciting challenge. They wanted a major expansion at his service station in Newcastle, Co. Dublin. He needed more than a car wash; he needed a complete brand that would set his new facility apart from the first day it opened.

After initial conversations about naming options and the vision behind the business, we landed on Platinum Car Wash as a starting point. But as the scope expanded to cover a holistic car care offering, we evolved the name to Platinum Car Care, a brand built to grow with the business.

From logo concepts through to full machine branding, panel vinyl, and on-site installation management, Kola Digital handled the entire creative journey.

Our Approach

Brand Identity & Carwash Panels

Naming, logo design, mock-ups and full panel design for both the drive-through brushwash and the handheld jetwash area. Coordination with suppliers, print management, and vinyl installation.

Car Care Machine Branding

Direct supplier engagement to obtain machine keylines. Precision design to exact machine specifications, print management, and on-site installation at the supplier warehouse before delivery to the station.

Mat Wash Machine Design

Supplier keyline obtained, designs and mock-ups developed and signed off. Ready for production.

Fascia Design In Progress

Currently developing the full fascia design for the service station frontage, which is the final piece to complete the Platinum Car Care visual identity on-site.

Stage 1: Brand Identity
From Name to Logo

The naming process was collaborative. We brainstormed a range of directions with the client and his team, before “Platinum” emerged as the clear favourite. It feels premium, aspirational, and immediately communicates quality.

Six distinct logo concepts were developed, exploring different illustration styles, typography treatments, and graphic approaches. After review, our client selected the design that best reflected the premium positioning of the brand, which was a bold semicircle with a foam cloud motif and clean, confident letterforms.

The wordmark was then adjusted from “Platinum Carwash” to Platinum Car Care, reflecting client’s broader vision for the facility as a comprehensive car care destination, not just a car wash.

Brushwash Panels

With the brand established, we moved into designing the 8 drive-through panels (front and back) for the brushwash car wash area. Working from the supplier’s keyline, we developed designs that communicated the wash packages clearly while creating an immersive branded environment for customers as they drove through.

Mock-Up Visualisation

Before any design went to print, we produced detailed photorealistic mock-ups so our client could visualise exactly how the branding would look in the real environment. This approval process ensured complete confidence before committing to production.

Jetwash Area

Jetwash Bay Design

Alongside the drive-through brushwash, we designed the full panel designs for the handheld jetwash bays, covering the external perimeter panels and the jetwash machine units themselves. The design communicates the 5 wash stages clearly while maintaining the premium Platinum Car Care aesthetic.

Installed Result

The panel designs were printed and installed as vinyl graphics by the printer directly onto the perimeter panels. The on-site result transformed the previously bare metalwork into a fully branded environment that draws attention and communicates professionalism from the road.

A dedicated information panel was also designed for the jetwash machine face, clearly setting out the five wash options and step-by-step instructions for customers.

Stage 2: Machine Branding
Car Care Machines

For the second stage, Kola Digital worked directly with the car care machine suppliers to obtain the precise keyline templates for each unit. Designing to exact machine dimensions is critical as any tolerance error would result in graphics that don’t wrap or register correctly on the physical machine.

Designs were reviewed, refined, and signed off before going to print. Unlike the first stage, these machines were branded at the supplier’s warehouse, with Kola Digital attending on-site to oversee the installation, ensuring the final result met the brand standard before the machines were delivered and installed at the service station.

In-Store Signage

With the car wash facility live, Kola Digital also designed the in-store A1 poster for the service station which is the first branded touchpoint customers encounter before heading out to the wash area.

The poster clearly presented all four wash packages with pricing, features, and the Platinum Car Care brand at full impact. Clean hierarchy, strong typography and the brand’s signature blue palette made this an immediately effective sales tool in-store.

The Outcome: A Brand That Delivers

What started as a logo brief grew into a comprehensive brand identity project spanning environmental graphics, machine wraps, point-of-sale print, and ongoing development. Every touchpoint, from the moment a customer sees the facility from the road to the panel they read while their car is being washed, carries the Platinum Car Care brand consistently and confidently.

The project is ongoing, with the fascia design currently in development. When complete, Platinum Car Care will be a fully branded service destination that Brian can be proud of and that customers will trust and return to.
